Grading Criteria for Article Reviews • These should be 2 to 3 pages in length, single spaced, using point size 11 or 12 and written in a Word Document format • Place the name of the article being reviewed, the author’s name and the publication in which the article is printed, along with your name, at the top • Summarize the three main points of the article and give an example of each through quoting no more than one sentence for each of the three points • Describe how well the author addressed the topic and give examples in the form of quoted material for each of your opinions • What could this author have done differently to improve the article, if anything? Again, give examples in the form of quoted material for each of your opinions • Answer AT LEAST THREE of these points: • I agree that … because … • I disagree that … because … • What puzzles me is … • I don’t understand … • This reminds me of … • I wonder … • I’m surprised by … • What if …? Conclude with a summary of the article and include any implications the article that raise the need for further research or inquiry into the subject of the article. 70% of your grade is based on your demonstration of critical thinking.
